Case study

Loughton work shop

Completed: March 2017
Client: Private client
Purpose: Design studio work shop
Ground Conditions: High plasticity clay
Pile type: 76r
Depth: 6-8m
Additional work: 16
Location: Loughton, London

The client was concerned for the environmental impact his building may have. As screwpiles are fully removable, recyclable and no spoil is produced this ticked his box.

The project is for a single story timber frame structure.

Extension legs 175mm were added to the tops of the pile which enabled 60mm adjustment in any horizontal direction to suit the installation of the wooden ring beam.

This stopped the need for a concrete ring beam and created a 175mm air gap required for building regulations.

This projected was completed in 2 days.
